Amaru, Andean Dragon

Creature design made for the "Dragones de Latinoamérica" Wacom contest.

Unlike the European conception that presents the dragon and the serpent as symbols of evil, Amaru presents himself as a divinity that gives life and carries wisdom.

The Andean legends tell that it is seen as a serpent with a llama head and a tail of lightning, that flows through its tail rivers that flow into storms that allow the maintenance of crops.

Amaru has written in his body the secret of life, his omniscience is presented as the writings of everything that was, what is and what will be.
